How to get a good translation?
Good translations need time. Do not ask for too tight deadlines.

If you have documents that can be useful for the project (texts or previous translations, brochures on the topic, glossaries, etc.), send them to us. Don’t forget to specify that they are only “reference documents”.

It is recommended to specify beforehand the terms and abbreviations belonging to the internal vocabulary of your company. If you know their translation, don’t hesitate to tell us.

Designate a contact person in the company that can answer our possible questions during the translation process. The communication between the translator and the client is very important to get optimal results.

Try not to give us incomplete texts or drafts. As long as possible, complete and definitive texts are best.

It may also be useful to indicate to us what kind of public the translation is intended for.

What is the best format for sending a document?
The most practical is the electronic format, preferably in Word and sent by e-mail. When that is not possible, you can send us the document by fax, a hard copy or scanned by email. Remember we cannot give a quote until we have seen the original document, and we cannot start working until you have accepted our quoted price.

Do you work with clients from abroad?
Yes. We are used to working with them actually, specially with American clients.

When will I receive my translation?
As soon as possible. We are aware the client needs his translation fast, but to guarantee the best quality for our job, we would ideally need at least one day of work for each 2,000 words.

What are your rates for page?
Our rates are not based on pages, but on words. They also depend on type of document, language combination and urgency. Don’t worry if you don’t know how many words there are in your document, just send it to us and ask for a free quote.

Do you meet deadlines?
Yes, we always do. In LectosPro we have never delivered late any work, and we even send the translations before the deadline when possible.

Does the price of a translation indicate quality?
Yes and no. Obviously, a translator with too cheap rates is hiding something: either his operations are illegal and does not pay taxes, or he is not a professional and does translations in his spare time to make some extra money. On the other hand, there are too expensive translators whose rates are not justified.

May I ask for a discount?
Yes, LectosPro offers volume discounts, based on word quantity.

What makes a good translation?
It is faithful to the original text. It produces in the reader the same effect as if he were reading the original in his own language. It is written in a natural and correct way.

May I trust you not to disclose the information included in the documents you translate?

Why hire a translator if there are free translation programs on the internet?
Just test them yourself: write or paste a text in Spanish and then try to make sense of the English translation!

Why don’t you offer a long list of languages?
Because we decided to specialize in just one language. This allows us to guarantee better quality and better rates than agencies with an endless list of languages.

Why are professional translations so expensive?
Contrary to an automatic translation, which is translating word for word from one language to another, a professional translation is a complicated and time-consuming job requiring an expert that does it efficiently, and that has a price.

Is being able to speak more than one language the same as being able to translate?
No. Even a completely bilingual person does not have to know the science and techniques of translation. On the other hand, the translator needs to have a deep knowledge of his two working languages.
